Foundation Football Coaching Course with Star Football Academy

The Foundation football coaching course is the first rung on the coaching ladder — the place to begin if you have never formally coached before. Delivered in Dubai and accredited by Esprit Football Academy in the UK, this entry-level qualification gives new coaches the confidence and the fundamentals to run safe, fun and engaging sessions at grassroots level.

Who the Foundation Course Is For

This Foundation football coaching course is designed for complete beginners to coaching: parents who help out at the weekend, older players starting to give back, teachers, and anyone aged 16 or over who wants a recognised first qualification. No previous coaching experience is required — only an interest in working with young players from under-7s through to open age.

What You’ll Learn

Across the course you will be introduced to the practical and theoretical sides of planning, delivering and reviewing individual coaching sessions. You will learn basic game formats, key rules, coaching fundamentals and playing principles, and how to build a series of linked practices that keep players active and engaged. A central thread is the FA’s 4-Corner Player Development Model, which helps you understand each player’s long-term growth as a whole person — technically, physically, psychologically and socially.

The Foundation football coaching course combines face-to-face workshops with hands-on practical delivery, giving you real coaching opportunities both on the course and, where possible, with your own players and teams.

Entry Requirements and Outcomes

Be at least 16 years of age.
Hold a current Emergency Aid / Basic First Aid certificate, or be willing to begin a First Aid course.
Course duration: 35 hours total qualification time / 35 hours guided learning.

On completion you will earn a Foundation Certificate accredited by Esprit Football Academy in the UK — and a solid grounding to coach grassroots football and, in time, progress to the next level. Get in touch for upcoming dates, cost and location.

Foundation football coaching aims and objectives

The Future Coaching Academy Foundation course introduces learners to coaching the Football game and working with players from under 7 to open age.
Learners will gain an insight into the game in England, how it’s played, and how they can coach to support future players’ development better. The qualification prepares learners to coach football at the grassroots level.
By completing the learning program for this qualification, learners will be introduced to the practical and theoretical aspects of planning, delivering, and reviewing individual football coaching sessions.
The foundation level of knowledge and skills developed through this qualification will enable learners to create safe, fun, and engaging coaching sessions by building, developing, and extending a series of linked practices.
Learners will be introduced to basic game formats, key rules, coaching fundamentals, and playing principles.
Throughout the course, learners will be introduced to the 4 Corner Player Development Model, which will help them better understand the long-term development of their players as a whole person.
Helping them construct appropriate practices and sessions for their players
Series of practical coaching ideas, allowing them to recognize the various ingredients that make up safe, fun, and engaging practices to help their players develop valuable coaching opportunities both on the course and, where possible, with their players and teams.

The Foundation football coaching course comprises face-to-face workshops and practical delivery covering a range of topics leading to a Foundation Certificate qualification.
